Cookie Policy

In short: Temise sets only two cookies to make the site work — temise_session (keeps you signed in) and XSRF-TOKEN (security, stops other sites from submitting forms in your name). Both are strictly necessary, so they are set without asking for consent, and both disappear when your session ends. We do not currently run any analytics, advertising or social media cookies. If we ever add cookies that are not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent first through a cookie banner, and you will be able to say no or change your mind at any time. Blocking the two essential cookies will stop you from logging in and from submitting or accepting quotes.

1. Who we are and what this policy covers

1.1. This Cookie Policy explains how cookies and similar technologies are used on the Temise platform, available at temise.com and temise.pt (the "Platform").

1.2. The Platform is operated by CRIATOPO - PUBLICIDADE UNIPESSOAL LDA, a sole-shareholder private limited company incorporated in Portugal, with registered office at Rua 1 de Maio n.º 273 B, Bairro Vale do Forno, 2675-256 Odivelas, Portugal, VAT/NIF PT513690689, registered at the Commercial Registry under number [commercial registry number] ("Temise", "we", "us").

1.3. For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation, Temise is the controller for the personal data processed through the cookies described in this policy.

1.4. This policy covers the Platform only. It does not cover the websites of the companies listed on the Platform, or any other third-party website you may reach from here. Those sites have their own cookie policies.

1.5. This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains in full what personal data we process, why, for how long and what rights you have. The Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Platform itself.

2. What cookies are

2.1. A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. When you come back, the browser sends the cookie back, so the site can recognise your session or remember a choice you made.

2.2. Cookies are described as:

  • First-party — set by the website you are visiting (here, Temise).
  • Third-party — set by another organisation whose content or script is embedded in the page.
  • Session cookies — deleted when you close your browser or when your session ends.
  • Persistent cookies — stored for a set period, until they expire or you delete them.

2.3. This policy also covers similar technologies that store or read information on your device, such as browser local storage, session storage and pixels. The legal rules are the same, so wherever we say "cookies" in this policy we mean cookies and these equivalent technologies.

3. The legal rules we follow

3.1. Storing information on your device, or gaining access to information already stored there, is governed by article 5 of Lei n.º 41/2004, of 18 August (the Portuguese law on privacy in electronic communications). Under that rule we may only do so if you have given your consent, after being given clear and complete information.

3.2. There is one exception, which we rely on for the two cookies listed in section 5: consent is not required for storage or access that is strictly necessary to provide a service that you have expressly requested. Keeping you logged in and protecting your form submissions falls squarely within that exception.

3.3. Where consent is required, it must meet the standard of the GDPR (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, articles 4(11) and 7) and of Lei n.º 58/2019. That means your consent must be:

  • freely given — you can refuse without losing access to the Platform;
  • specific — separately for each purpose (for example, analytics separately from marketing);
  • informed — you are told who sets the cookie, for what, and for how long;
  • unambiguous — given by a clear affirmative action. Continuing to browse, scrolling, or a pre-ticked box is not consent.

3.4. Refusing must be as easy as accepting, and you can withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of what was done before you withdrew.

4. The categories of cookies we use

4.1. Strictly necessary cookies — always on

4.1.1. These cookies are required for the Platform to work. They keep your login session alive, protect forms against attack, and make sure that the request, quote or acceptance you submit is attributed to the right account.

4.1.2. They are set as soon as you visit the Platform, without asking for consent, on the basis of article 5(3) of Lei n.º 41/2004 (see section 3.2). They cannot be switched off through a cookie banner, because without them the service you asked for cannot be delivered.

4.1.3. They are first-party cookies. They are not used to profile you, to build an advertising audience, or to track you across other websites, and their content is not shared with third parties for those purposes.

4.1.4. The complete list is in section 5.

4.2. Functional cookies — where used, only with your consent

4.2.1. Functional cookies remember choices that improve your experience but are not essential — for example a preferred language, a preferred city, or the fact that you have dismissed a notice.

4.2.2. We do not currently set any functional cookie beyond the strictly necessary ones listed in section 5. If we introduce one, it will be added to the table in section 5 and, unless it is strictly necessary, it will only be set after you consent.

4.3. Analytics cookies — where used, only with your consent

4.3.1. Analytics cookies count visits, show which pages are used and help us find errors and broken journeys.

4.3.2. We do not currently run any analytics or measurement tool that sets cookies or reads information from your device. We deliberately do not list here any tool we have not installed. If we later add one, we will update this policy, name the tool and its provider, state whether data leaves the European Economic Area, and ask for your consent through a banner before any such cookie is set.

4.4. Marketing and advertising cookies — where used, only with your consent

4.4.1. Marketing cookies build a profile of your interests in order to show you advertising, on this site or elsewhere.

4.4.2. We do not currently set any advertising or retargeting cookie, and we do not embed social media plug-ins or advertising pixels on the Platform. If that ever changes, these cookies would only be set with your prior, separate and specific consent, and refusing would never restrict your use of the Platform.

5. The cookies actually used today

5.1. The table below is the complete list of cookies set by the Platform at the date of this policy.

XSRF-TOKEN Security — prevents cross-site request forgery (CSRF). It holds a token that our server checks on every form submission or action, so that another website cannot make your browser submit a quote, accept a quote or change your account details behind your back. Strictly necessary — first-party, security. Set without consent. Session cookie. Deleted when you close your browser and, in any event, expiring with your session (120).

5.2. Both cookies are set by temise.com / temise.pt itself. Neither is sold, shared or used for advertising.

5.3. If a cookie banner is in operation, the record of the choice you make in it is itself stored on your device (as a cookie or in local storage) so that we do not ask you again on every page. That record is strictly necessary — it exists precisely to respect your decision — and will be listed by name in this table as soon as consent-based cookies are introduced.

5.4. We keep this table accurate. If a cookie is added, changed or removed, this policy is updated and the "Last updated" date at the top changes.

6. Third-party cookies

6.1. We do not currently allow third parties to set cookies through the Platform.

6.2. Two situations may arise in the future and are flagged here for transparency:

  • Payment pages. When we charge a company a success fee, or if a protected payment (escrow) feature is introduced, payment is handled by a licensed payment provider. If part of that flow takes place on the provider's own page or in a frame supplied by it, that provider will set its own strictly necessary cookies, under its own cookie policy, to process the payment securely and prevent fraud.
  • Embedded content. If we ever embed content hosted elsewhere (for example a map or a video), that provider may set cookies. We will not embed such content in a way that sets non-essential cookies before you consent.

6.3. Where a third party sets cookies on its own pages, we do not control them and this policy does not apply to them. You should read that provider's cookie policy.

7. What happens if you block cookies

7.1. You are free to block or delete any cookie. But please be aware of the consequence: if you block or delete the strictly necessary cookies, the core functions of the Platform will not work. In particular:

  • you will not be able to log in, or you will be logged out on every page change;
  • a company will not be able to submit a quote, and a client will not be able to accept one;
  • forms will be rejected as invalid, because the security token cannot be checked;
  • account, request and quote pages will be inaccessible.

7.2. This is not a commercial choice on our part — it is a technical consequence. There is no way to hold a secure logged-in session without storing a session identifier on your device.

7.3. Blocking cookies that are not strictly necessary has no effect on your ability to use the Platform. You can post requests, receive quotes, submit quotes and complete a job with every non-essential cookie refused.

8. How to control cookies and withdraw your consent

8.1. On the Platform

8.1.1. Where a cookie banner or preferences panel is in operation, you can accept or refuse each category of non-essential cookie there, and you can reopen it at any time from the link in the site footer to change or withdraw a choice you made earlier. Refusing is presented as clearly as accepting.

8.1.2. Withdrawing consent stops the further use of the cookies concerned. Cookies already stored are not removed automatically by that action alone — delete them in your browser as described below if you want them gone immediately.

8.1.3. Where consent-based cookies are in use, we will ask you again periodically — at least every six months — rather than treating a single click as permanent.

8.2. In your browser

8.2.1. Every major browser lets you see the cookies stored for a site, delete them, block them for a specific site, block third-party cookies, or refuse all cookies. The exact wording changes between versions, so the following is a general guide rather than a click-by-click script:

  • Google Chrome — open the browser menu, then Settings, then the Privacy and security section, then the entry for third-party cookies or site data. From there you can block cookies, or use "See all site data and permissions" to remove the data stored for a single site.
  • Mozilla Firefox — open the menu, then Settings, then Privacy & Security. Use the Enhanced Tracking Protection options to control cookies, and the Cookies and Site Data section to clear data or manage exceptions site by site.
  • Apple Safari (macOS) — open Safari, then Settings (or Preferences), then Privacy. There you can prevent cross-site tracking, block all cookies, and use Manage Website Data to remove what a single site has stored.
  • Apple Safari (iPhone and iPad) — open the device Settings app, then Apps and Safari (or Safari directly, depending on the iOS version), then the Privacy & Security options, where you can block cookies and clear history and website data.
  • Microsoft Edge — open the browser menu, then Settings, then Cookies and site permissions, then "Manage and delete cookies and site data", where you can block cookies, delete them, or add an exception for a specific site.
  • Other browsers — look for a Privacy, Security or Site data section in the browser's own settings or help pages.

8.2.2. You can also use your browser's private or incognito mode, which discards cookies when you close the window.

8.2.3. On Android and iOS devices, the operating system settings additionally let you reset or limit the advertising identifier used by apps. That identifier is separate from website cookies and is not used by the Platform.

8.2.4. Please remember section 7: browser-level blocking applies to the essential cookies too, and will break login and quote submission on the Platform.

8.3. Automated signals

8.3.1. There is currently no single legally recognised technical standard for automated browser signals such as "Do Not Track". Because we set no tracking cookies at all, no such signal is needed to protect you here. If we introduce consent-based cookies and a binding standard applies, we will honour the signal and say so in this policy.

9. Cookies and your personal data

9.1. The cookies in section 5 involve limited personal data: a session identifier and a security token, which our servers link to your account and to the IP address and device information contained in ordinary server logs.

9.2. The purpose is to operate the Platform securely and to comply with our legal obligations. The full picture — the categories of data, retention periods, recipients, any transfers outside the European Economic Area and the legal bases relied on — is set out in our Privacy Policy.

9.3. You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability and withdrawal of consent under articles 15 to 22 GDPR. The Privacy Policy explains how to exercise them.

9.4. If you believe cookies have been used unlawfully, you may lodge a complaint with the Portuguese supervisory authority, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD) — https://www.cnpd.pt — or with the supervisory authority of the EU Member State where you live or work.

10. Changes to this policy

10.1. We update this policy whenever the cookies we use change, or when the law or the guidance of the CNPD changes.

10.2. The date at the top always shows the current version. If a change means we start using cookies that require consent, we will ask for that consent before setting them — an updated policy alone is not consent.

10.3. Companies using the Platform as business users are additionally notified of changes to our terms in accordance with the notice period set out in our Terms and Conditions.
